The Met Gala is the event that should not be missed. Each year a new theme is introduced that dictates the dress code of the biggest stars who attend. In 2018 it was “Heavenly Bodies: fashion and the Catholic imagination”, which gave rise to looks for the less memorable (we think of you Rihanna). For this edition, it was “Camp: notes on fashion”. The notion of camp means exaggerated fashion and the love of what is unnatural. The main point is to be artificial and exaggerated. This year Mango has squashed the rules and has become the first Spanish high street brand to visit the Met Gala!
The Mango ambassador, Sofia Sanchez de Betak, attended the Metropolitan Museum of Art, surrounded by the biggest names in fashion, such as Anna Wintour, in a Mango dress created exclusively for the occasion. The brand has decided to approach the concept of camp by playing on its own name of fruit by focusing on the color of the dress, the fabrics and how it is cut and shaped. Special mention to the discreet mango bag that completes the outfit. Of course, we can’t help but notice the handbag that completes the look!
You can find the dress of Sofia Sanchez limited edition at Mango from June 3. Mango also launches a capsule collection of clothes and accessories inspired by this year’s theme, with colorful dresses, fringes or glitter galore.
