INTERVIEW WITH IZA IJZERMAN, VIOLETA BY MANGO CAMPAIGN
Violeta by MANGO is pushing a strong and inspiring message through the spring/summer 2019 collection. I am what I am. This collection has created pieces for the beautiful voluptuous ladies to make them feel confident, trendy and sexy. The models Paloma Elsesser, Lorena Duran and Iza Ijzerman were selected to represent the collection and it’s message. We wanted to dive deeper into this empowering campaign, so we talked with Iza to learn more!
Iza Izerman, could you introduce yourself? Who are you and where are you from?
My name is Iza Izerman, I’m 20 years old and I was born and raised in The Hague, The Netherlands.
How did you feel when you knew you had been chosen to be part of the Violeta by Mango campaign?
I was excited, I could not believe it at first, it’s such an honor to be part of a campaign as strong and important as “I Am What I Am”.
What does it mean for you “I am what I am”?
Not only am I who I am, but also what other people think, you can love me as I am and if not, so be it. Do not care what others can say about you. And solidarity between girls.
Have you always trusted yourself? Or is it something you learned?
I do not think anyone has confidence in him directly at birth, I had to learn what is important, and a double chin is not.
What message do you want to give to all girls?
Please start loving yourself, I know it’s not easy but try, just to see; girls support you, do not belittle people, if everyone stopped judging themselves and focused on their own happiness, the world would be a better place.
This campaign brought many women in their shoes to convey a strong message about love and self-acceptance. Who are the women who inspire you?
The woman who inspired me most is my mother, she was coming out of the house with fluffy socks and she did not care what the others thought. She really did what made her happy and no one could stop her, she was not mean for a penny.
