The time we had all feared has finally arrived. Winter and dry skin are there to make your life a nightmare. BUT, do not fear, we are here to save the day and give you tips and tricks to get through this bad weather that can have harmful results on our skin:
First of all, you shouldn’t use your summer skincare routine during winter. Your skin doesn’t have the same needs during those two seasons. During winter, your skin needs hydration, and a lot of it. That is why you should favor products that are fortified with shea butter, argon oil and vitamin E. Moreover, winter will most likely make your skin feel tight. To prevent that, it is substantial to provide a rich hydration.
MAKE UP REMOVER:
This is not well known, but during winter you should opt for a softer makeup remover. Instead of your classic micellar water, you should choose a cleansing milk that will hydrate without being harsh to your already weak skin.
It may not be obvious, but your skin needs sunscreen during each passing season. Even though the sun can’t be seen, its effects are still there to cause damage to your skin. We all know that the sun makes our skin age faster, therefore you should always include it in your routine.
AVOID HOT SHOWERS:
We know, it is cold and hot showers are usually our best friends. However, hot water dries our skin and causes hair breakage. Try having lukewarm showers, you will soon get used to it.
FACE OILS AND SERUMS:
Oils and serums are known to energize, reinvigorate the skin. In addition they also help the cells to regenerate: that is needed to face the cold.
Face scrub and exfoliator are truly what is best when it comes to starting from scratch. It takes off dead cells and cleanses thoroughly to allow a better operation and penetration of the products that you will apply afterwards.
This product is usually used once a week (or more if you are feeling generous) because of how beneficial and effective it is. Why are they so amazing? Easy, they contain many beneficial ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and vitamins. As opposed to a traditional serum, it offers a great hydration and deeply nourishes the skin.
As obvious as it may seem, you have to use a lip scrub or balm. Our lips gets way drier during winter, that is due to a lack of oil glands that makes them always exposed to the sun, cold air, dry air and wind. That is why carrying a lip balm in your purse wherever you go is essential.
Hair care during winter is as important as taking care of your skin. Change your classic shampoo for a more hydrating one. Use hair masks and conditioner to build another layer of protection. Hair sprays are also your best friends during this harsh time of the year.
Now that you have all the tips to overcome the ordeals that winter puts you through, you can relax and drink a hot cup of tea (which is also good for your skin because it shrinks your pores and prevent acne, you’re welcome).
